While others plan to pay more attention to the topic of "sustainability" in the future, for FN Neuhofer it has always been at the top of the priority list.
The 10th generation family business sets the tone in many areas - e.g. with the use of two of its own small hydroelectric power plants for power supply, hot water preparation and heating using its own wood waste or a special extraction system for plastic chips so that they can be recycled again.
The family-owned company in its 10th generation sets the direction in many areas - e.g. with the use of two own small hydroelectric power plants for power supply, hot water preparation and heating via own wood waste or a special extraction system for plastic chips in order to be able to recycle them again.
The extensive certifications (ISO 14001, Global Compact, FSC, PFEC, ECO) are not a cushion of peace for FN Neuhofer - a modern photovoltaic system is planned as the next step to raise sustainability in the company to a new level.
The power of the sun: On the new building constructed in 2021, almost all roof surfaces were used for the installation of a photovoltaic system. A nominal output of 1.018 MW is generated from 2868 photovoltaic modules on 5,140 m2.
The power of water: As the site in tranquil Haslau originated from a sawmill, the use of the river "Vöckla" flowing past is a matter of honour. Two small company-owned hydroelectric power plants support the plant's power supply with its own sustainable energy.
The power of technology: Energy is also being diligently saved in the new staff car park built in 2019. A radar-controlled LED lighting system adjusts the intensity of the lighting to the traffic of people and vehicles in the car park when it gets dark.
The power of wood: All the company buildings are kept warm by recycling the company's own wood residues into energy. In 2021, a new energy-efficient heating system was installed, which produces up to 50% fewer NOx emissions than the old system. Furthermore, dust emissions were reduced by 93%.
Approx. 500 tonnes of CO2 emissions are saved per year
